5 Activities to escape the heat in Singapore

Singapore is renowned for being a beautiful Garden City; a tropical paradise – but with the temperature soaring above 30 degrees Celsius all year round, many of us locals can begin to find the heat rather tiresome! So if you are trawling the Internet looking for activities that can give us some relief from the heat, you have come to the right place! Singapore has many activities to grant us some respite, and here are a few we have found.

Ice Skating

What better way to escape the heat than hitting the ice! Singapore now has two functional ice rinks at JCube and Kallang, and for only 18 SGD and 17.50 SGD respectively, you are free to cruise the ice for two hours, skate rental included! In addition, children schooling at Primary 6 and below can be admitted at prices as low as 15 SGD for two hours. Now, at this point, many of you may be afraid of falling and literally hitting the ice – but don’t worry! JCube provides penguin aids and snowman aids for 2-hour rental periods, so all you need to do is hold on tight! Seal skating aids are also available for rent for those of you who fancy a ride across the ice (while you are pushed by a friend, of course). Be sure to look out for the Holiday Ice Camp for intensive skating lessons at JCube too!

Wild Wild Wet

If the hard ice just isn’t for you, why not take a trip down to Singapore’s Wild Wild Wet? Day passes range from 24 to 32 SGD for adults, and 18 to 24 SGD for children (below 13 years old) and senior citizens (above 54 years old). Or you could even get a family package of 4 passes for only $78! With the kid-friendly playgrounds, the massive 4-storey waterslides and the thrilling whitewater-raft ride, Wild Wild Wet promises to give you an unforgettable and action-packed experience in the water!

Escape Rooms

Escape rooms have become all the rage in the past year, and many vendors have opened all over Singapore, including Trapped SG, Lockdown, and Escape Hunt. From the whimsical fantasy themed rooms at Freeing SG to the chilling Annabelle room at Xcape SG, there is sure to be one that finds your fancy around Singapore. What’s more – most Escape Rooms have a price range of only 20 to 25 SGD per person! So come on down with your friends to any of them, and keep your wits about you – you will need them to solve the puzzles and break free before time’s up!

Vivocity’s Rooftop

Escaping the heat does not always need to be expensive! Take a walk on VivoCity’s Rooftop, with several restaurants, and beautiful architecture designed to keep the heat away! There is even a little shallow pool where you and your children can have a quick dip and cool off. This famed mall in Singapore also offers breath-taking views of the Singapore landscape. Don’t forget to drop by the main atrium in the mall too – there might be an exhibition you won’t want to miss!

Gardens by the bay

How could we end this article without talking about our iconic Gardens by the Bay? Many attractions here, especially the popular Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, feature spectacular views that include countless unique and beautiful Mediterranean flowers and plants, as well as the tallest artificial waterfall in the world! With the temperature moderated to mimic the cool Mediterranean climate, this would be a great place to avoid the heat. The OCBC Skyway is also not one to be missed – take a walk 22 metres off the ground over SuperTree Grove, and marvel at the wondrous panorama before you.
