It’s the most magical time of the year once again and Christmas season is upon us. Your favourite malls will soon be playing the hits of Michael Buble if they aren’t already doing so. Even if you don’t celebrate this holiday, it’s almost impossible for you to avoid the festivities, so why not make the most of the season and enjoy yourself. We’ll be looking into some of the hottest limited holiday extravaganzas across the island available during this limited period, and how you can soak in the joyful atmosphere.
Sentosa’s Interactive Light Installations
From now till 31st December, head down to Palawan Beach and check out the 10 light installations on display along the sand. Each of the 10 unique light installations have been curated and produced by visual artists including Sam Lo and Young and Jude, as well as an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) Wonderland by Yang where visitors can get deeper in touch with their senses as soothing background sounds play.
From Thursdays to Sundays, there’ll even be live performances and light bites available for you. What’s more, from 14 – 16 and 21 – 23 December, the first Pikachu Parade outside of Japan is happening here too, perfect for Pokemon fans and young children who love the franchise.
If you fell in love with the original Artbox in Thailand, or the returning Artbox container-styled night markets In Singapore, this is perfect for you. With a retail market, interactive exhibitions, neon light installations music, performances, creative workshops, arcade games and an almost endless list of F&B options, you will definitely find yourself coming back for more.
The pop-art market is all-inclusive, with retro arcade games like Daytona Racing, Point Blank, and many more classics, you can head over and relive your childhood.
Based on last year, you can expect one dedicated area for food outlets, but small shops littered around the two storey installation selling all types of café-styled and street food inspired offers.
Located between 313 Somerset and Scape, the event takes place at Grange Road Carpark from 9 to 30 December every day from 3pm to 11pm.
Gardens by The Bay
Home to not just 1, but 3 special installations for the holiday period, you can easily spend an entire day at Gardens by The Bay soaking in the festive cheer.
Starting with the redecorated Flower Dome, Poinsettia Wishes theme for the holiday period has transformed the dome into a celebration of winter and festivities. Perfect for Disney lovers, this years take on it is inspired by Disney Tsum Tsums you can expect to see your favourite characters all around as part of the décor.
When you’re done with the flower dome, head over to Supertree Grove where you can try your luck with the Luminarie Mirror maze, featuring Asia’s tallest golden luminarie Christmas tree. The huge mirror maze is also where you can experience blizzard time as ‘snow’ falls from above, creating a real European Christmas experience. Don’t miss out on other festivities like the Christmas market and carnival games as you head towards the Meadow to conclude your day out.
End your wonderful day out at the Meadow as you indulge in the carefully selected flavours from Savour serving up gourmet food from some of Singapore’s most up and coming restaurants.
Don’t forget to swing by the only outdoor skating rink in Singapore which has been flown in all the way from Switzerland and has a spectacular 8-meter Christmas tree as its center piece.
Prudential Marina Bay Carnival
The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival is back! After it’s first successful run ending in March this year, the carnival is back in Singapore from 22 December all the way till 24 March 2019. The carnival can be found in the same spot as it was last year, just next to Marina Bay Sands at Bayfront Event Space.
If you’ve been to the carnival before, you can expect some of the best rides to return, Mach 5, Star Flyer and the iconic Viking Ship are all set to come back as well. You can also look forward to new rides like the Wave Swinger, Freak Out and any others to debut on our shores.
Don’t forget the many other carnival games available where you can win all sorts of prizes, from “We Bear Bear” to Disney plushies up for grabs.
Lastly, who can forget about the amazing food available. While the list of restaurants setting up shop here has yet to be announced, we can expect the same quality as last year, with cafes and eateries like Paul and Hyde & Co filling our bellies this time again.
