If you’re a Singaporean citizen above 18, then you should have already received a $100 SingapoRediscovers Voucher for recreation in Singapore! After the rough year of 2020, all of us are looking forward to some recreation to relax and have some fun. But if you’re confused about some of the things going on with the SingapoRediscovers Voucher, here we have the answers to a bunch of questions you might have about these vouchers.
Question 1: How do I redeem the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers?
The SingapoRediscovers vouchers can be redeemed via your SingPass account when you purchase activity tickets at any one of the following booking agencies:
#3 Changi Recommends by Changi Travel Services
For online purchases, you should use SingPass to generate a voucher code while checking out. There will be a space for you to paste onto your checkout page, and once the booking is completed, the vouchers will have been redeemed!
But for those who are less comfortable with technology, there are also about 70 physical booths around Singapore, who are happy to provide assistance to those who need it. Many are located in or around the local community centres across the island. So if you need assistance redeeming the SingapoRediscovers vouchers, simply head over to any one of these booths for help!
Question 2: Do I need to redeem all $100 of my SingapoRediscovers vouchers in a single purchase?
Nope! The $100 can be redeemed in multiples of $10.
Question 3: When should I redeem the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers?
The SingapoRediscovers vouchers will be open for your enjoyment starting 1 December 2020! They are valid for 7 months, so be sure to redeem those vouchers before 30 June 2021!
Question 4: Are children under 18 eligible to receive these vouchers?
No, Singaporeans under 18 years of age will not be able to redeem $100 in SingapoRediscovers vouchers. This doesn’t mean you can’t still have a nice family activity, tour or staycation, though! Measures are still in place to let these youngsters enjoy the local tourism available around Singapore too! For any member of your family below 18, you can purchase up to 6 child or youth tickets for the approved activities, which involves a $10 subsidy.
Question 5: Can I use another person’s SingapoRediscovers Voucher?
Vouchers are non-transferable, so you will not be able to use anyone else’s SingapoRediscovers vouchers. Vouchers also cannot be stacked, so if you are making a purchase above $100 from an approved merchant, for example, you still won’t be able to redeem more than one person’s vouchers at a time. In this scenario, you’d use your own voucher for the first $100, and then pay the difference.
The Singapore Tourism Board has also warned citizens against trying to sell their vouchers to others, and this could result in the attempted seller’s vouchers being revoked.
Question 6: What can I do with my SingapoRediscovers Voucher?
The vouchers can be redeemed for a huge variety of recreational activities all over the island, including 39 fun and exciting attractions, staycations at 178 hotels, and 91 tour operators. Go marvel at the flora and fauna in the local Singapore zoos and Gardens, or enjoy thrilling drops at Universal Studios and iFly Singapore.
Alternatively, you and your family can take a break from the hectic city life with a relaxing staycation at luxurious hotels, including Amara Sanctuary Resort, Shangri-la, and even hotels at Resorts World Sentosa!
If you just really miss travelling at this point, have no fear – attractions ad tours like Snow City, Kayak Fishing Fever, and Singapore DuckTours can also give you the feeling of adventure and exploration that you crave!
However, digital activities, loyalty programmes, and membership packages are generally not considered eligible under these vouchers. This means that even though you’ll be able to use the vouchers to redeem a single trip to Universal Studios, the season pass is probably out of the question.
Singapore’s Tourism Board has also released a complete list of all the eligible merchants for attractions, tours and hotels, which can be found here. Whatever you make a booking for, also keep a lookout for the SingapoRediscovers voucher icon on the activity – all eligible activities will be marked with this icon! Some of the fun things you can do are described in greater detail in our earlier article on local tourism (not all of the activities listed in this previous article are eligible products under the SingapoRediscovers vouchers).
Question 7: Are there exceptions?
In some cases, products that would otherwise not be included under the SingapoRediscovers vouchers can be redeemed, assuming, of course, that they are offered as part of a package with an approved product.
Although the vouchers themselves are non-transferable, you might also still be able to share some of the benefits of your SingapoRediscovers vouchers with others if you choose to, but there are rules about this. For example, on the condition that an approved merchant deems a product transferable, you might be able to buy the product with your own voucher, and then transfer the product itself to others for their use.
Although you do need to be careful about some of the limitations of the SingapoRediscovers vouchers, just take note of the guidelines that Singapore’s Tourism Board has released, and keep up to date with the updates they post on their website. But until 30 June 2021, use the SingapoRediscovers vouchers to explore our beautiful country and experience all the uniqueness it has to offer!
