Engaged Shawn as he was starting out as a designer and we could feel his passion for interior design. During the proposal, he introduced new ideas to us (instead of the usual muji-esque vibes), gave us a fresh insight of what we really wanted our first home to be, something timeless. He managed to present us with a video mock-up of the place and managed to deliver what he had designed. The renovation process was quick, but as expected, it is not without hiccups. However, Shawn will rectify them and make sure these issues are addressed. We engaged our designer to renovate our BTO. It was a good experience, Young was very responsive to whatever concerns we brought up, and handled the issues we faced reasonably well. Any error discovered during the process was readily rectified without additional cost, although there were one or two issues that were not followed up on. We first met at Qanvast Hangouts and he stood out among the 10-12 "Interior Designers" that we met as he not only listened to our needs, he proposed an idea of his own. We have met way too many "Designers" who only asks you, "What do you want?" instead of proposing a design, like a designer. Glad and happy that we chose Young and he had done an excellent job in accommodating to our request. As with all renovation works, there were hiccups along the way but we appreciate his efforts in doing his best to ensure that the final product is up to standard. Young also brought us to Marble Factories and suggested great lighting and furniture shops for us as well. Also. he listened to our feedback on certain subpar sub-con and said that he will stop using them for future clients as well. Other than suggesting beautiful designs, Young is also knowledgeable on the practical aspects and is detailed with his drawings. Young was able to incorporate our ideas, and provide objective and practical feedback to help us visualize the space we were working with. In terms of design aesthetics, he was in line with our requirements of a clean, practical and spacious home while working with our preferred color theme. He was always prepared to listen to our inputs regardless of the time, and was also patient to walk us through and explain things from a perspective which would otherwise have been our blind spots. Young had also provided timely and clear updates throughout the renovation process, which assured us that our project was in good hands. The carpentry, plumbing works done was of excellent workmanship, and any post-completion minor works were promptly resolved and followed-up. We were especially appreciative that Young also went out of his way to help us procure the dining area corner fan after an unexpected chain of events. The outcome of the project was of high similarity to the 3D rendering provided at the start, which we were impressed with. Family and friends who came over also made good comments about the renovation works - they love the living room, the study/entertainment room, the kitchen, the master bedroom and even the toilets! Working with Young has been a fun and smooth process right from the 1st meet-up. My husband & I met Eric from Met Interior at the Qanvast Hangout in Jun 19. Prior to that, we had met up with 3 other IDs. During our 1st meet up, we conveyed to Eric what we had in mind and he was quick to show us pictures on the spot. We decided to engage him as his quote was reasonably priced and we felt comfortable working with him. During the reno, Eric constantly kept us updated with photos of the progress. There were several times when I make last minute changes but Eric was very patient. He would give us some time to make a decision and when he knew I’m in a dilemma, he would give advise based on his experience and functionality. He also gave us valuable feedback on what furniture would fit (e.g colour & size). He was also responsive to our concerns and any defects or request even after the project was completed. We met Derrick in one of Qanvast's events and immediately liked the vibe he gave and ultimately decided to get him as our ID as we wanted someone we could talk and relate to easier. We met Derrick at a Qanvast event in October 2019. Subsequently we decided to engage him as our ID for the renovation of our HDB as we found that he was able to propose ideas to meet our needs and he was prompt in his response and the first to give us his quotation among the 3 IDs whom we met during the same Qanvast event. This shows that he is very reliable and responsible and so we entrusted the project to his good hands. True enough, he was able to deliver and he managed to complete our renovation timely and according to his planned schedule. Derrick was often prompt in responding to our queries and requests on WhatsApp and he will try his best to accede to our requests where possible, even when we requested for some last minute changes. One thing I appreciate about him is that he always remained calm and composed, even at times when we voiced out our complaints about some substandard service of his outsourced contractor. He tried his best to solve the problem and even took the extra mile to help us the day before we moved in, to ensure that we moved in smoothly the following day. The only thing I feel he can improve in future, is to manage customer's expectations and be mindful not to over-promise on the service standards of his outsource contractor. Otherwise, customer will be disappointed when the service standards cannot be met. Overall, we are satisfied with the renovation and the final design of our house which has met our needs and expectations. When friends ask how I chose my ID, my answer has always been, "Well I chose the one guy I knew I wouldn't get irritated speaking to, he's basically another version of my boyfriend." Right off the bat, Young understood the direction we wanted. His proposed colour schemes and design elements were very applicable to our preferences. Whenever I had feedback, he accepted them and readily offered relevant alternatives. Even when I showed him a detailed comparison of line item costs, Young addressed the breakdown of each line item with good grace. I'm a believer that quality comes at a price, and the workmanship and follow-up efficiency has proven me right till today. I barely needed to micromanage the renovation - Young had the initiative to see things through effectively, and alerted us to issues with prompt solutions. Even when we had last minute requests, he delivered. When we first met, we explained that we often host friends. And that's what Young has given us - a comfortable home to entertain guests. We decided to engage MET Interior as the ID quickly took to our idea and immediately understood our concept. This was different from experiences we had with other IDs who either did not grasp our concept or told us it was too difficult and expensive. We found most IDs prefer to stay safe and mainstream. Young was able to suggest different ways to materialize our ideas, as well as threw in a few of his own. It was fortunate that we took the leap of faith as the end result looks amazing! There were a couple of hiccups along the way, such as not having enough manpower due to COVID restrictions and the extended time required to finish certain parts of the house.
