This spacious 5 room resale HDB gave the homeowners a rare chance to create their “forever home”. They wanted a place that feels warm, lived in and a little bit like a holiday villa, without losing everyday practicality. The Alchemist responded with a Modern Mediterranean concept, layered with boho accents, natural textures and plenty of storage that works quietly in the background.

The first view of the home reveals a generous open plan layout where the living, dining and bar counter are all connected. A large L shaped sofa anchors the space, paired with a pair of round wooden coffee tables and a patterned rug that adds personality. Warm timber flooring runs throughout, visually tying all the zones together.
You can imagine movie nights here with the whole family sprawled across the sofa, snacks on the coffee tables and the ceiling fan gently turning above while the track lights provide just enough glow.

The TV wall keeps things clean and simple with a slim media console and a wall mounted television, but the designers added interest in thoughtful ways. A row of breeze blocks screens off the entrance, allowing light and air to pass through while subtly separating the foyer from the living area. Lush indoor plants and a slim display cabinet soften the lines and bring a touch of nature indoors.
It is a great example of how small details can change the feel of a room. Instead of a plain partition, the breeze blocks create patterns and shadows throughout the day, making the space feel more dynamic and airy.

Towards the back, the dining area features a long wooden table, a mix of bench and upholstered chairs, and a ribbed timber feature wall. Two woven rattan pendant lights hang above, casting a gentle, diffused glow. The cats lounging on the bench and sofa in this shot make the space feel especially homely, showing how the design works for both humans and furry family members.
Picture weekend brunches here: the bench packed with guests, kids running in and out of frame, and a big sharing platter set in the middle of the table. The space feels intimate enough for everyday meals yet generous enough for entertaining.

The bar counter connects the living and kitchen, creating a natural spot for quick breakfasts, coffee breaks or evening drinks. Warm wood cladding wraps around the counter, while cane backed bar stools bring a subtle retro vibe. Above, a trio of amber glass pendant lights adds warmth and gives the area its own identity.

In the alternate view, you see how the counter faces the fridge and a small pantry nook with open shelves and closed storage. It is easy to imagine chatting with your partner here while they cook, or having friends gather at the bar while you top up drinks without ever feeling cut off from the action in the living room.

The kitchen is where the Modern Mediterranean theme shines. Shaker style cabinets in white and warm wood are paired with slim vertical tiles and a farmhouse sink, giving the space a timeless, handcrafted feel. An arched window detail and an open shelf niche soften the lines, while brass handles and tapware add a touch of understated luxury.
The layout is very practical for everyday cooking, with plenty of counter space, a large cooker and clear zones for prep, washing and serving. This is the kind of kitchen where you can comfortably whip up a weekday dinner yet still feel proud to host a big festive gathering.

The common bathroom takes a bolder approach. Walls are clad in patterned tiles with a classic motif, paired with a black base trim and vanity. A marble look vessel basin sits on a dark countertop, matched with rounded brass fixtures and a circular mirror.

In the shower area, the same patterned tiles continue, creating a fully wrapped effect that feels cohesive and intentional.
Imagine coming home after a long day, turning on the warm water and standing under the brass rain shower surrounded by those intricate patterns. It feels a little like staying in a boutique hotel, yet it is still designed with niches and ledges to keep toiletries organised.

For the master bathroom, The Alchemist shifted to a modern monochrome palette. White marble effect walls contrast with dark lower tiles and a streamlined grey vanity. A black framed arched mirror echoes the curves seen elsewhere in the home, while a black and white basin adds a graphic, contemporary touch.
Practical elements like the concealed cistern, built in ledge for storage and clear floor space make daily routines smoother, but the overall look remains polished. A vase of orchids adds a soft pop of colour and reinforces the idea that this is a space meant for slow, unhurried self care.
In just 8 weeks, The Alchemist transformed this 150sqm 5 room resale HDB into a home that feels warm, layered and full of character. The Modern Mediterranean foundation is enriched with boho and classic elements, resulting in spaces that are not only photogenic but also comfortable for day to day living. From the open plan living and dining area to the social bar counter, curated kitchen and distinctively styled bathrooms, every corner tells a story about how the homeowners live, unwind and host.
